What A Night! 2015 June Celebration

Our 24th June Promotion Celebration was held at the beautiful sanctuary and campus of Shepherd of the Hills Church in the San Fernando Valley.

In support of church youth camps and graduations held by other schools, we continue to schedule our June Promotion on the second or third Friday in June, regardless of the end of school date. As of this writing, the

2016 June Promotion Celebration will be held Friday June 10, 2016.

This year we continued our traditional Class Banner Processional. Every year, the current senior class choses a Biblical verse, theme and motto. They then design a class banner reflecting their choice.

The students marched in carrying their banner and those from previous years to the anthem: Do You Hear The People Sing from Les Miserable.

You might be interested to learn that this song and quite a few equally wonderful Broadway show tunes can be heard on Alumni APS-Dad

Steve Amerson's Front Row Center and Front Row Center II, CDs.

Visit www.steveamerson.com for details.

The Class of 2015 chose John 8:12 as their Class Verse;

I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.

Their motto is Following the Light.

We look forward to unveiling the Class of 2016 banner

at Orientation, Sept 12, 2015.

Their Class Verse is Rom.12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

The Class of 2016 motto is: Do not be conformed to this world.

Very timely, don't you think?

One highlight of our 2015 June Promotion Celebration was a performance by APS Senior KJ McDonald, Patrick Marsh and Jason Corbin who performed Terzetto Op 74 for two Violins & Viola by Antonín Dvořák.

We were thrilled to learn that KJ has been accepted by Juilliard which awarded him the position of Juilliard Kovner Fellow.

This year, only 3 or 4 violinists were named Kovner Fellows. Kovner Fellows receive a full scholarship including tuition, room and board, traveling expenses, special courses and performance opportunities and enhanced mentoring. KJ's mentor is world renowned violinist Itzhak Perlman.

CONGRATULATIONS KJ.

All of our seniors are to be commended and their many accomplishments could be listed. Here is just a sample:

Rose Caulkins will be attending CSUN, majoring in Microbiology. She is a member of the National Society of High School Scholars.

Christian Fernandez will be attending The Joshua Wilderness Institute at Hume Lake for a year and then enter CSUN where he will major in Mechanical Engineering. He has a passion of robotics and was elected President of his robotics team. He has been on the APS honor roll every year since 7th grade.

Arianna Forest will be attending BIOLA University, majoring in Intercultural Studies. She is a member of the National Society of High School Scholars and has been on the APS honor roll every year since 7th grade

Justice Mena will be attending CSUN, majoring in Chemistry. Justice has been accepted into the CSUN GE Honors Program which he hopes will help him transfer to UCLA or CalTech where he will continue pursuing his love of Chemistry and Physics. Justice has been on the APS honor roll every year since 7th grade.

These are just a few of our graduates, all of whom are examples of the APS motto: Celebrate Excellence

Graduating our Senior Class was, of course, a focus of the evening; however, every APS student at the Celebration, was called on stage by name and presented with a Certificate of Promotion, beginning with our Kindergarten class; SOOOOO CUTE.

The evening was focused on our students, but, behind it all are the hard working and sacrificial APS-Moms and Dads who have decided that

the BEST education is a HOME education.

As we always say: APS Has The Best People In Town.

Well done and CONGRATULATIONS to each and every APS family.
